A shapely, traditionally upholstered, early 18th Century walnut winged armchair with ‘C’-scrolled arms.
A period piece (circa 1710-1720), finished in linen, on walnut cabriole legs and delicate pad feet. Walnut ears flank each leg, the front legs have an inverted ogee decorative moulding running around the mid-way point. Just above, is carved a deep ‘V’ groove scrolling around the top of the leg, terminating at the ear. Traditional ‘H-framed’ stretcher rails support the legs.
Traditionally upholstered with horse hair, linen webbing, linen coverings and feather and down cushion. a supremely comfortable chair for the fireside.
